The company Defend Lock, a leading manufacturer and distributor of the Defend brand for the comprehensive automobile security and protection, is reacting to email spam, and is assuring its customers and partners, that all Defend systems, including Defend Lock mechanical gearshift locks, fulfil the highest security requirements. Proof or this are certificates that Defend Group possesses for its products.
In the last few days, information has been spreading via the medium of electronic mail regarding the ease with which it is possible to overcome a majority of renowned brands that are used in door locks of buildings or mechanical automobile gearshift locks using the Bump Key method. The management of Defend Group Company feel the necessity to react to this purposely damaging information.
From the standpoint of Defend Group, the information which has appeared on the Internet is misleading, and damages the Defend brand name. For the subject of the information being spread, in the case of the Defend brand, is a test of a lock cylinder manufactured in the year 2001, when the Bump Key method wasn’t generally known. Experts have been concerning themselves with protection against the Bump Key method since the year 2002. Their impulse was none other than the publication of a non-destructive, dynamic, keyless method of overcoming locks, based on the so-called SG effect, in other words similar or identical to the Bump Key method.
Defend Group reacted to this situation by developing a new cylinder, which it has been installing into its products since the year 2003. Its security is confirmed by a Conformity Certificate, reg. no. TT-466/2003, issued by the certification authority TREZOR TEST on November 26, 2003. The new cylinder thus meets the requirements of Security Class 4, including requirements to counter the non-destructive dynamic method, the so-called SG or Bump Key.
The issues for security and protection of property are very broad and the development of security systems is a long-term matter.
