Defend Motorsport successful in Rosice

27.10.2005Defend Motorsport successful in Rosice

In the surroundings of Rosice in Southern Moravia, the first annual Rallye New Balance Rosice took place. From the perspective of Defend Motorsport, the greatest interest was focused on two teams starting with vehicles Skoda Felicia Kit Car 1600 in category SA2.
These teams consisted of Miroslav Brezik navigated by the experienced Billy Latif, and the young David Tomek with Vladimir Tomsu in the co-pilot’s seat.
This time around, the organizers of this Czech-Moravian Cup rally event prepared a very fast track for the starting teams after the technical Sternberk event, which gave many cause for concern. Miroslav Brazik; “During training I was quite bad on the track. It was very fast, and from retarder to retarder. But during the final I quite liked it. It was actually my second race. After the technical Kopna event, I tried out driving on a fast track with fast turns, which was something completely different.” “It was a very fast track, but I quite liked racing on it,” agreed David Tomek.
After the first RZ, which was cancelled, racing didn’t begin for real until the 2nd RZ, Rosice – Zbraslav. Mira Brezik battled his way to the front, followed by David Tomek. For a long time the ranking stayed the same. The turning point didn’t take place until after the 6th RZ, when after a change of transmissions and subsequent penalization Miroslav Brezik fell to third place of SA2, and David Tomek took the lead, which he held until the finish. He thus gained his first rally victory. Miroslav Brezik ended the pursuit in the contest’s third round in second place in the SA2 category.
David Tomek: “We took the start in Rosice more or less as a test. The car ran without any problems and I was very satisfied with it. Before the start it never occurred to me that I could win, so I’m very happy with the results. It’s a success for me, even though it’s clear to me that Mira Brezik’s technical problems helped us a lot in gaining first place.”
Miroslav Brezik: “I entered the contest ill. Already during training I had fevers, which plagued me throughout the entire contest. Our goal was to finish the rally without some sort of damage to the car. After the 6th RZ our transmission began to give us trouble, it began to rattle and we couldn’t continue. Luckily a service stop followed, where we managed to change it out for a penalization of 2:20 minutes. We thus fell in ranking, but tried to move up as much as possible in the remaining RZ’s. We drove the entire contest with confidence and even during the pursuit we didn’t have any problems. We can currently only suspect what our further plans will entail. Everything will depend on money, we’ll either drive in CMPR, or maybe in the sprint in Vsetin.”
