The Defend Motorsport team crew, Radek Rehak – Martin Behula in their Skoda Felicia Kit Car are unstoppably aiming for the rally sprint title in Category A under 1400 ccm. In two competitions within two weeks in Blovice and Pacejov in Western Bohemia they increased their lead, and only a few points are necessary for 100% certainty.
„It could come off, already,“ commented with a smile Radek Rehak, who leads second-place Marek Kulda by 34 points.
At the Rally Uslava Blovice, Rehak came in second. He was a mere 6.1 seconds behind the category victor Michal Fiala with his Suzuki. And this despite the fact that the western Bohemian tracks didn’t suit him at all. „It’s a horrible runway, I was always maxing out the RPM’s,“ said Rehak.
In Blovice Rehak ended a series of three victories in a row. Not much was missing for the streak to continue. But he lost valuable seconds. Once time he braked through a retarder that was incorrectly designated in the itinerary. A second time he stopped by the crashed car of his colleague Hodan.
We lost roughly 10 seconds there, but at the finish we forgot to report that we had stopped there. We messed up a bit,“ confessed Rehak.
During the Agropa Rally Pacejov the Zlin driver didn’t leave anyone to doubt his dominance in the A5 category. During the second speed trial, which was however the first measured one, he did a spin-around and fell to seventh place. However with an excellent pursuit he soon moved to the front, and at the finish beat out the second-place Michal Hora by 44 seconds. He thus won his fourth first place victory of the season.
„ I had to really push it to make up the loss, but Hora then made an error, so I could then ease up a bit,“ Rehak breathed a sigh of relief.
The Defend Motorsport team member own in Pacejov, despite the contest being somewhat more demanding for him than the previous sprint in Blovice. „This rally was also fast, but a tad more technical and took more heart,“ he compared.
The sprint rally series now has more than a month’s break, and won’t continue until the beginning of September in Vyskov. Rehak will perhaps spice up the free month of summer vacation with a start at the favoured Barum Rally Zlin with a Mitsubishi.
